Our Story

our story

Brian Heermans, a graduate of Oklahoma University – Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Systems Engineering has teamed up with family and friends to open a place they always wanted in Norman. Sauce It Up is a high quality pizza, pasta, and subs that they could get fast, could grab on the go, or dine in and watch sports. 

Great grandparents Rosa and Paul Malone owned and operated Malone Chili company just down the street on Classen dating back to 1952.  Brian’s grandparents, Bill and Shirley Malone continued the family business later renamed as Malone Products, Inc. serving as regional food distribution service to Sonic, KFC, Dairy Queen and many other local establishments until 2003 when they retired. 

Brian is passionate about food and cars, and when he was nearing a graduation date and realizing he did not want to enter the corporate world as an engineer, the opportunity of owning and operating his own restaurant presented via a family friend.  Many of Brian’s family members have worked in the restaurant industry and food distribution, so it was only natural to pursue this dream.  His great Aunt and great grandmother owned an operated Hassler’s in Norman for many years in the late 80’s and 90’s. 

Brian and his family love Norman and can't imagine bringing this dream to life in any other place.
